Afeela by Sony & Honda Is The Future of Smart Cars

 

Ever wondered how it will feel to have an automobile that can understand and relate to you and your style so well that it could pass for a personally made car? 

The automobile industry is not joking this time around, with strong competitions from different brands, one seems to be confused on which is the best amongst them all as new cars are made annually with top notch technologies.

Out of them all, one seems to catch our attention, an automobile company that is very young in the automobile industry, just about 10 months old. Recently, they revealed the prototype of their first car which is expected to commence pre order in the first half of 2025; A highly technologically equipped car brand; The Afeela EV. 

This car brand was as a result of partnership between an entertainment company, Sony, and Honda, a leading automobile manufacturing company, which was unveiled on the 5th of January this year by the Chief Executive of the new company,Yasuhide Mizuno.

This new company is called The Sony Honda Mobility and this blog will explore the prototype of their first product.

This unveiling of the brand's prototype speaks volumes about the future of the automobile industry with its crazy features which we would explore below and make the comparison with automobiles currently in use.

Features of the SHM Afeela.

This feature will be divided into two; The Software & Interior and The Hardware & Exterior.

-  Ultra Intelligent Software:

As a technologically advanced car, it is meant to be powered by amazing AI. These technologies are what makes the car stand out from the majority of cars out there.

Some of the features allowed by it's software technology are:

° Level 3 automated driving: This allows the person sitting on the drivers' seat to concentrate on the driving and controls amidst the entertainment this car is equipped with which we shall read of below.

° 360 degrees capturing: It has 45 sensors and cameras positioned all around the car to give the best view to the user. With this feature, one can have an oval-shaped view of the car, spot potential dangers while on transit by getting the accurate distance of any object around the car and even automatically open and close the car doors.

Aside from the camera and sensors outside the car, there are cameras and sensors inside the car which integrate with the outside. These inner cameras capture the biometrics of everyone in the car, especially that of the person sitting on the drivers' seat. Once the biometrics have been verified successfully, every other feature can be activated. 

° Gaming and Video On Screen Capability. Imagine having a cinema right inside your car? Don't be surprised, Sony, one of the two companies patterning to bring this car is an entertainment company, so what do you expect? Enjoy yourself to the fullest. You can stream online videos, play games on your car while driving or should it be called 'automatically driving' as the driving and its main stress is actually done by an automated bot while you have your seat and make the controls using the smart steering wheel.

° Luxury and Entertainment Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon: It's no doubt that the Qualcomm Snapdragon's processor is one of the best processor chips out there and with the kind of technology coming with this car, it will be unwise if this car isn't powered with a chip like the Snapdragon's processor.

- Exterior and Hardware:

One thing that sets a car for market success is the exterior which is the very first thing people get to fall in love with about a car and Sony Honda Mobility recognised this aspect of Automobiles.

° Area: When it comes to size, this car is expected to have a length of about 4.9 metres, overly approximated to 5 metres. With a width of 1.8 metres and a body height of 1.3 metres. It's not bad for a sedan car, though, after its main release, customised models could be ordered and built for users who demand for it as in every other car brand.

One more feature of this car as announced in the unveiling of its prototype is that it is expected to be an AWD. This feature doesn't make much of a difference if you just enjoy using cars for the feel and thrill, but if you're specific about your type of driving experience and an AWD is your spec, then they got you covered. 

Currently, pricing discussion for the cars hasn't commenced, but is expected to near the time for pre order, but one thing is for sure, the car will be very expensive, from analogy, it will be a bit below luxury, until then, let's wait and see what they have for us with their pricing.

From the above features, this futuristic automobile has indeed shown that driving experience can be enjoyed to the core, its Artificial Intelligence allows it to update and get newer software versions, this is indeed a step up for the automobile industry as a transition is gradually happening.
