Whether this is lack of proper product vetting by SON, the regulatory body that ought to ensure that quality products are shipped to the country, I must say that, the 30000mAh SHPLUS power bank with model number "S26" is a terrible product that should never have made it past any quality control inspection test centre, not even from the manufacturer's quality control unit.
Here's our review:
Although this product comes in a very attractive packaging that is almost Irresistible when you behold it, however, buying it will be a total waste of your money.
It is written on the pack that the company behind it is a Chinese technology company known as "Yitongtai Technology Co. Ltd."
All our search didn't bring up any information about this company online. A scan was also done on the QR code found on the side of the pack, and a web search was carried out using the code, yet, nothing vital came up.
Product Features:
Color: black (comes in variant)
Body: plastic
Extras: led light at the top & digital percentage indicator
Inside the package: a short 2.0 USB charging cable
Lacks: doesn't come with a charging adapter
What else: comes with a user manual or instruction manual, has 3 USB port.
According to the company: This power bank is said to have a "Over-Charge" protection feature and "Over Temperature Protection" mechanism to ensure safety in case of overheating conditions.
These claims are written on the back of the package.
Our Discoveries:
The makers of this product says its a 30000mAh capacity backup (Powerbank) to help you worry less about electricity issues in regions with lesser access to power.
However, this powerbank could not charge an iPhone 6s phone twice, given that the iPhone 6 or 6s battery has a smaller capacity compared to the Huawei mate SE device, which this powerbank can't even charge up to a 100 percent at a single go.
The first thing that was noticed when the package was opened is - The USB cable (a very short one) which came with the product is a very low quality type.
Very soft like ordinary wrapper - And when it was plugged to an adapter, it began to get really hot. Hot like it was going to burn. I had to quickly unplug and substitute with my original cable that came with my Huawei mate SE mobile device.
The charging process took about 8 hours or so for the first charge.
Now it was time to put it to its first test. I plugged it to my iPhone 6s (note that the iPhone 6s comes with just a 1715mAh battery capacity) so, going by rough calculations, a powerbank having 30000mAh capacity should be able to charge such a low capacity device for about 4-5 and a half times before getting completely low.
But unfortunately, this could barely charge the iPhone 6s to 100 percent max, twice.
My next test was carried out on the Huawei mate SE mobile device, battery size is only 3340mAh capacity. One would expect that, even if the cable has become weak overtime, this powerbank should be able to charge this mobile phone for about 3 or 2 and a half times.
Disappointingly, it could not charge it to a 100 percent at a single go. Terrible right?
I don't know about any other version that they have, whether it's durable or not, but this experience with their 30000mAh S26 powerbank is already a red-flag.
You surely can't trust such a brand again, enough to want to gamble your money on another product of theirs.
Our Verdict:
The SHPLUS S26 powerbank is a disaster - It's a terrible product that should be recalled from the market.
