While there used to be a lot of competitors gunning for the #1 spot, Jumia seemed to have the secret to the magic formula for e-commerce business sustainability in the clime.
It's been 10 years coming (founded in 2012) and Jumia has grown to be the giant of e-commerce and retail business in the Nigerian internet industry and some other Pan-African countries.
Not only has Jumia gained majority in market-share by controlling more selling power in the e-com space in Nigeria and other African territories, Jumia has also modelled to perfection the operational concept adopted by the global ecom giant Amazon, by running her own delivery system and owning Jumiapay which makes paying for goods on the platform easier.
Why is Jumia is the news?
As you must have guessed, we didn't choose Jumia as a topic because they're leading the e-com space around here - However, there is something we thought was newsworthy. What is that?
The company has just launched what is known as JForce, and your guess will be that the "J" stands for Jumia.
What exactly is this Jforce platform by Jumia about?
We did our check, and we found out it's a special dashboard for individuals to help other people make orders from the Jumia online store while earning commissions.
You can almost liken it to be an agent account.
However, as a Jforce account owner, you don't have to add extra charges to the product you're helping someone to order - And you don't need to make any delivery arrangements or hit the road to make deliveries by yourself, Jumia takes care of that for you.
Your own job is to convince people, whether this be family, friends or colleagues to allow you help them make orders. We assume that this could even be bigger than this.
We assume that people can run ads to advertise products from the Jumia store and when people contact them via whichever messenger platform e.g. Whatsapp or Telegram, then you can go ahead to help them make orders.
Above is the inside look of how your dashboard will look like. Jforce users can either sign up and log in by using their already registered Jumia email address or simply register as new users if they do not already have an active account.
The company pays commissions based on orders that are made through your Jforce account. More like affiliate marketing model, but with the Jforce concept, you're more in control of your earnings based on how much orders you're able to help people make.
Another thing is, Jumia is not taking chances with this, they don't want so many inactive accounts lying around, so they've decided that inactive accounts will be deactivated. So what this mean is, if you signed up for a Jforce account, you have to at least make orders monthly to keep your account.
Secondly, there are different levels that you have to unlock. In fact, there are 5 (five) levels. See below.
These are the 5 levels available and as you rightly guessed - You will be on "Probation" level once your account gets activated. Yes, your account needs to be activated once you create it. Your account automatically becomes activated once you make your first order within the first month of registration.
How The Levels Work
Quite a simple and straight forward concept to be honest. The idea is to ensure that you're actively promoting your business and making sales.
We honestly think this is a brilliant idea and anyone can make money using this platform - Especially for those who are kind of finding it difficult to start an affiliate marketing business.
It doesn't require a learning curve, therefore it is open to anyone with absolutely no technical know-how.
We also think it's brilliant because you don't need to have a seller account or own products, you simply sell other people's products and Jumia gives you a cut from the profits made.
In this business, you're the boss and your earnings are as low or as high as you could rake in per month. It is your hard work and persistence that pays you.
Our Thought: We think this is a smart move by Jumia to dominate the e-com industry.
